Profile
“An eclectic mix” was a rather disparaging remark from one of Sue’s previous tutors when she handed in a module at college, but she has explored various topics over the years and the full range of emotions from anguish to light hearted.
Since moving to the country from an urban existence, she has gained strength from the landscape, peace from the surroundings and a general sense of wellbeing from a location similar to that in which she grew up. Her work has been more focussed on these elements and the inclusive and interdependent nature of the rural community. She sees first hand the changing light, landscape and nature’s colours and uses them in her work.
Free machine embroidery, hand stitching, needlefelting (embellishing), dyeing, screen printing, photography and collage all feature in her work.
